On Wednesday 27th November, our very own Philip Martin, won the Future Leader Award at the prestigious Bord Bia Awards.
This is an incredible achievement, especially given the calibre of other candidates, namely Léan O’Connor from Drover Foods, Valda Smith of O’Brien Fine Foods and John Harte of Five Farms Irish Cream.
The Future Leader Award was a new award this year for individuals who have made a significant positive impact to the business environment in which they work and have demonstrated consistent leadership and commitment to the food and drink industry.
Philip is an incredibly passionate ambassador for Irish food. He has made Ireland and Tipperary the recognised home of the best quality corn tortillas in Europe. He is expanding people’s perception of what Irish food is. While famed for great quality meat and dairy, Philip is moving the perception of Irish food away from defined categories to simply being a mark of great quality, whatever the food or drink category.
Upon winning the award, the judges commented;
“The ongoing demand for leadership and management talent is a challenge facing the global food and drink industry but with rising stars such s Philip coming to the fore, the future looks bright. A CEO at just 31 years old, Philip is not just an outstanding entrepreneur; his ability to inspire and influence others, exhibited through his fundraising and team assembly, sets him apart as an emerging leader. A great story of real passion and commitment”
The team are thrilled for Phil and are excited for what 2020 has in store.
