We are thrilled to announce that we’re launching fully recyclable packaging for our retail tortilla chips bags.
You will be delighted to learn that the new bags also keep our chips fresher for longer. Our flavours remain unchanged, except with a little update to the name of one of the firm favourites. Ancient Grain will now be called Blue Corn.
Ireland generates around 265,000 tonnes of plastic waste each year, and less than one-third is being recycled. As of late last year in Ireland, you can put soft plastics into your recycling bin, but they must be clean, dry and loose. This is great news, but we have a long way to go. Everyone can play a part in making things better.
Our founder Phil said: “We have great ambitions to be a more sustainable brand, and support the circular economy. And although we might be a young brand, we’re not afraid of rising to the challenge of reducing single use plastics. As a business, we try hard to do the right thing. The right thing isn’t always the most straightforward option.”
“It really has been a long road to reach designs that are aesthetically appealing and speak to our customers, while preserving our beloved tortilla chips. It wouldn’t have been possible without the passion and ingenuity of our team. I’m really looking forward to hearing what people think of our new packaging.”
The beautiful chip bags are being rolled out as we speak and soon you will be able to get your hands on them. We hope you love them as much as we do. Do take a pic and tag us on social if you find them!
